StigmaandDiscriminationisthethemeofthe2003WorldAIDSday.Inmanypartsoftheworld,discriminationpreventspeoplewhoareknowntohaveHIVfromsecuringajoborcaringfortheirfamilies.Discriminationcancauseisolationandmarginalizes（排斥）peoplewhohaveHIVandAIDS.Thiscanpreventpeoplefrombeingofferedorseekingthetreatmentwhichcouldsavetheirlives.

Startedin1988,WorldAIDSDayisnotjustaboutraisingmoney,butalsoaboutraisingawareness,educationandfightingprejudice.WorldAIDSDayisalsoimportantinremindingpeoplethatHIVhasnotgoneaway,andthattherearemanythingsstilltobedone.

TheRedRibbonisaninternationalsymbolofAIDSawarenessthatiswornbypeopleallyearroundandparticularlyaroundworldAIDSdaytodemonstratecareandconcernaboutHIVandAIDS,andtoremindothersoftheneedfortheirsupportandcommitment.
Theredribbonstartedasa"grassroots"effort,andasaresultthereisnoofficialredribbon,andmanypeoplemaketheirown.Tomakeyourownribbons,getsomeordinaryredribbon,about1.5cmswideandcutitintostripsabout15cmslong.Thenfoldatthetopintoaninverted"V"shapeandputasafetypinthroughthecentrewhichyouusetoattachtheribbontoyourclothing.
